Percy Knox of Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster used an aiding wind estimated at 30 m.p.h. to leap 26-0 1/2 in the long jump Thursday in a dual meet at Quartz Hill.
Knox, who has an official best of 24-0 1/2 this season and an all-time best of 24-3 1/2, from last year, had a series of 25-2, 26-0, 26-0 1/2 and 25-6 1/2, all wind-aided.
Only five other high school long jumpers, including Carl Lewis at 26-8, have jumped farther under all conditions.
