DETROIT — A 6-year-old boy took a loaded semi-automatic machine pistol to school, and his first-grade teacher found it on a shelf after he asked her for help in finding his “toy pistol,” police say.
The 9-millimeter Mac-10 with 26 live shells in the magazine was found Tuesday in a Biddle Elementary School classroom, police spokesman Fred Williams said.
The boy apparently misplaced the weapon, Williams said, then described it to his teacher. She turned it over to police, who are trying to determine where the weapon came from.
