Bellflower : Investor Becomes Mayor

Councilman Mike Brassard was elected mayor and Councilman Ken Cleveland was chosen mayor pro tem during the yearly reorganizational meeting of the Bellflower City Council.

Brassard, 50, a real estate investor, has served on the council since 1984 and was mayor pro tem last year. His term will expire in April, 1988. Brassard was elected mayor by a 5-0 vote.

Cleveland, 54, owner of Hammond Lumber Co. in Bellflower, was elected to the council in 1986 but served two council terms between 1970 and 1978, said Craig Nealis, assistant to the city administrator.

Cleveland was elected second in command by a 4-1 vote, with former Mayor Joseph Cvetko dissenting. Cvetko nominated Councilman John Ansdell for mayor pro tem but Ansdell declined.
