Post Office Drug Ring Charged

NEW YORK — Federal prosecutors charged 29 current and former postal workers today with dealing cocaine and crack in and around the main U.S. post offices in Brooklyn and Jamaica, Queens.
In a yearlong investigation, undercover agents secretly taped the government employees as they made drug deals in amounts ranging from $20 to $2,000. The government alleged that the workers, some with as many as 20 years on the job, sold drugs while on duty as postal clerks, carriers and mail handlers.
