Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp., accused of selling millions of bottles of sugar water labeled as pure apple juice for babies, has settled a class-action suit for $7.5 million, attorneys announced. A spokesman said that the company denied intentional wrongdoing, but that some product that was not pure apple juice had been shipped. The settlement, subject to court approval, will provide retailers with $2.5-million worth of Beech-Nut and affiliated products and a $5-million cash fund for customers, said an attorney who filed a suit for Giant Markets Inc. that was combined with other suits.
