Viewpoint/ Letters : The Field Has Been Tilted in UCLA’s Favor
- Share via
Regarding the snide letter (Viewpoint, May 9) extolling UCLA’s recent sports victories over USC, please be reminded that these come with the strong help of NCAA legislation. Scholarship limitations badly hurt private schools and greatly help public schools. A $10,000 USC scholarship is more than double the cost of a Bruin scholarship. In fact, half of a USC scholarship costs more than a full ride at UCLA. Stockpiling two Bruins for one Trojan is easy.
The Trojan winning tradition was set on an even playing field. Until that field is no longer heavily tilted in UCLA’s favor, enjoy those victories. Just keep a wide open mind to the realities. Yours for a better rivalry,
