Viewpoint/ Letters : Flyers Can’t, Twins Aren’t, Packers Don’t

Regarding Mike Downey’s column (May 7) on nicknames for new sports franchises, I encourage him to look on the bright side, to a day when:

--Five games into their inaugural season, the new basketball team in Miami is so bad that no one wants to come out and watch them play. The headline: “Fans Turn on the Heat.”

--The Lakers go into Orlando to play and Earvin Johnson has an incredible night. Final score: Magic (the man) 101, Magic (the team) 89.

--Doug Moe, as the coach of the expansion team in Charlotte, bemoans the fact that his team folds in the clutch, game after game. “This team has no Spirit. We should the called The Gutless .”
