Point Loma’s Song 2nd in Hammer Throw

Kyong Song of Point Loma Nazarene College finished second in the hammer throw Thursday in the NAIA track and field championships at Russellville, Ark.
Song, a junior from Korea, threw the hammer 179 feet 9.75 inches. Jon Torrence of Central Washington won with a throw of 187-7.
Two other Point Loma Nazarene athletes had top times in qualifying events Thursday. Kris Andersson, a sophomore from Sweden, had the day’s best time in the 400-meter hurdles at 52.25 seconds. Phil Williams’ time of 14.10 in the 100-meter hurdles was also the day’s best.
The competition continues today and runs through Saturday.
