Top Three Seeds Advance in Laguna Volleyball

Three of the top four seeded beach volleyball teams won Saturday to advance to today’s semifinals of the 33rd annual Laguna Beach Open at Main Beach.

Randy Stoklos and Singin Smith, the No. 1-seeded team and four-time winners at Laguna Beach, will meet the team of Brent Frohoff and Scott Ayakatubby in one semifinal. Tim Hovland and Mike Dodd (No. 2 seeds) will play John Hanley and Jon Stevenson (No. 3) in the other semifinal.

The No. 4-seeded team of Leif Hanson, a graduate of Laguna Beach High School, and Dan Vrebalovich, an Estancia High alumnus, was upset Saturday by Frohoff and Ayakatubby.

Today’s semifinals of the $20,000 tournament start at 9 a.m., with the final scheduled for 3 p.m.
