A former California Highway Patrol officer was sentenced to a year in County Jail and three years’ probation for destroying arrest reports of drunk-driving cases in exchange for up to $2,000 in bribes. Louis Cordova, 32, who served five years with the CHP, pleaded guilty last April to destroying records while he worked at the downtown traffic court building. Cordova’s high school classmate and co-defendant, Michael Martinez, a paralegal, also 32, pleaded guilty to soliciting bribes and received a 16-month prison sentence. Deputy Dist. Atty. James E. Koller, the prosecutor, said Cordova, who faced a two-year prison sentence, is employed as vice president of branch operations at 1st City Savings Federal Credit Union.
