The City Council approved a $6.7-million budget last week, about $50,000 more than had been proposed by City Manager Paul J. Philips.
The addition was made to the general fund, which increased from $5,041,000 to $5,090,655.
Part of the increase went to the Lawndale Chamber of Commerce, which was given an additional $25,000 to help coordinate the Miss Lawndale contest and other community activities.
The City Council will have a reserve of about $2 million, part of which will be used to provide salary increases for management--level employees, according to Finance Director Jan Rush.
