Beverly Enterprises reported a $21.6-million loss for the second quarter, compared to income of $18.9 million a year ago. The Pasadena-based long-term care company said quarterly results include a charge of $52 million for the previously announced loss on disposal of certain durable medical equipment assets plus increases in reserves for self-insurance programs and patient receivables. Revenue was up by about 6%.
