Digital Equipment Corp.’s earnings jumped 58%in the fourth quarter to $377.3 million. For the full fiscal year, the company posted an 84% increase in income to $1.137 billion. The Maynard, Mass., computer maker credited demand for both its low-end and large systems. The results are evidence of the growing acceptance of DEC’s approach to computer architecture and networking, the company added.
