Bernadette Peters has been cast as a witch in the latest Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine collaboration, “Into the Woods,” which opens on Broadway Oct. 29. The $4-million musical takes off where Grimm’s--”... and they lived happily ever after”--fairy tales left off. Peters appeared in the last Sondheim-Lapine collaboration, “Sunday in the Park With George.”
