BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — City officials have decided to build a monument at Wheeler Park dedicated to the 28 men who died April 23 when the partly completed L’Ambiance Plaza, which was to have been a 13-story apartment house, collapsed.
The Board of Park Commissioners on Tuesday unanimously approved the monument at the park, a few hundred yards from where the disaster occurred.
The granite-and-bronze monument will depict a worker looking down upon empty hard hats that symbolize the construction workers who were killed, officials said.
