San Jose police are on the lookout for a man in a red car who apparently drives around firing shots at other vehicles late at night. Two shootings have been reported this week, Sgt. Dwight Messimer said. No one was injured, but in the latest incident, a bullet went through the victim’s windshield as he was making a left turn in the Westgate area. The earlier incident was about a mile away, on Interstate 280, but the victim left without leaving his name after he flagged down a California Highway Patrol officer and told him he was shot at, Messimer said. “The description is almost identical,” Messimer said. “We think it’s some nut who likes to drive around shooting people.” In both shootings, the assailant’s car was described as a red late-model Ford, probably a Thunderbird.
