The House committee investigating the Iran- contra affair said it has received 175,000 cards and letters since its joint hearings with the Senate began May 5, and the mail is running 3 to 2 in favor of the conduct of the hearings. “It is heartening to know that so many citizens followed the hearings so closely and cared enough about the processes of their government to take the time to express their views,” said Rep. Lee H. Hamilton (D-Ind.), chairman of the panel.
