Cambodia Cuts Rice Planting; Drought Cited

BANGKOK, Thailand — Cambodia said Friday it had planted only a fifth of its rice crop because of drought and diplomats expect the government to appeal for aid to make up food shortages.
SPK news agency, monitored in Bangkok, said only 19% of a targeted 4.2-million-acre crop had been planted during the monsoon, the rainy season which usually lasts from June to October.
