LOUISVILLE, Ky. — American Assn. directors have unanimously recommended Buffalo, N.Y., as the host city next summer for the league’s first all-star game.
All eight American Assn. cities expressed interest in being host for the game, but Buffalo was chosen because of its new 19,500-seat stadium, scheduled to open in April 1988.
Buffalo will submit a marketing plan for the game at the league’s annual meeting Sept. 30 in Hollywood, Fla.
The nine-inning all-star game on July 13, 1988 will feature players from American League-affiliated teams against players from National League-affiliated teams.
The recommendation of Buffalo as the site for the game was made at a league meeting in Louisville.
