Downey’s Opinions Don’t Clear Waivers

Mike Downey’s article on the Angels’ “waiver-list” team (Aug. 23) was so inane that it made me wonder if Downey knows anything about objective reporting.
He blames management for starting such players as Devon White (a rookie) and Wally Joyner (a second-year player). Why have a farm system at all if the Angels are going to insult the faithful by never promoting such inexperienced players?
I guess Downey would prefer Albie Pearson and Moose Skowron for the 1987 stretch drive.
