Gene Kelly received France’s highest cultural award at a ceremony in Paris. Kelly, whose credits include “An American in Paris,” was presented the Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters, a ribbon and medal, by French Cultural Minister Francois Leotard--a descendant of the inventor of the classic dance garb.
