Parking Permits--Hinderance or Boon for L.A. Residents?
I live near Westwood Village and up until last year when parking permits became mandatory, parking on the street was nearly impossible. Now, there is parking available almost every day in front of my apartment. Parking enforcement officers come by daily and cite cars without permits.
Unfortunately, these officers also accidentally ticket cars with permits from time to time. I know of four occasions in the last six months that this has happened.
There is no way to void these mistaken citations easily. In other words, you have to appeal your case in court. This is a waste of my time, the city’s money and promotes bad community relations with the police.
Either the parking enforcement officers must be better trained to recognize a parking permit so that these mistakes stop happening, or a better system for voiding these faulty citations must be put into effect.
As for me, I’m off to court again this week to waste everybody’s time and money appealing yet another mistaken citation.
