Tennis Roundup : Becker Meets Cash in Sydney Semifinal

Boris Becker of West Germany set up a showdown against Wimbledon champion Pat Cash by beating Paul Annacone, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals of the $345,000 Australian Indoor tennis championships Friday at Sydney.
Becker, the two-time Wimbledon champion who is seeded No. 2, took 1 1/2 hours to eliminate the eighth-seeded Annacone.
Czechoslovakia’s Ivan Lendl, the world’s top-ranked player, also reached today’s semifinals, beating India’s Ramesh Krishnan, 6-2, 6-3.
In the other quarterfinals, Australia’s Cash beat Scott Davis, 6-3, 7-5, and fourth-seeded Slobodan Zivojinovic of Yugoslavia eliminated unseeded Marty Davis, 7-5, 6-4.
Top-seeded Tim Mayotte reached the semifinals of the $202,500 Toulouse Open, beating Claudio Mezzadri of Switzerland, 6-2, 6-1, at Toulouse, France.
In other quarterfinal matches, Ricki Osterthun of West Germany defeated Luiz Mattar of Brazil, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3; Tim Wilkison beat Jerome Potier of France, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, and Jakob Hlasek of Switzerland defeated Patrick Kuhnen of West Germany, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
Martina Navratilova defeated Lori McNeil, 6-4, 6-2; Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina beat Helena Sukova of Czechoslovakia, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3; Pam Shriver downed Zina Garrison, 6-4, 6-2, and Chris Evert ousted Mary Joe Fernandez, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4, in the quarterfinals of a $175,000 tournament at Filderstadt, West Germany.
