Man Trying to Cross Street Hit by Car, Dies

A 66-year-old San Diego man was killed Sunday night when he was hit by a car as he attempted to cross Mira Mesa Boulevard, police reported.
The dead man, identified as Policronio Avila Quevedo lived in the 8700 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard, where the accident occurred.
Quevedo was crossing from the center island, on his way to the north side of the street, when he was hit about 10:15 p.m. by a westbound car, police said.
Quevedo was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he died of head injuries, according to the coroner’s office.
