Third baseman Gary Gaetti, the most valuable player in the American League playoffs, was among 11 players, including 3 members of the World Series champion Minnesota Twins, who filed for free agency. A total of 58 players have now filed. The deadline is Monday.
Other Twins filing were catcher Tim Laudner and relief pitcher George Frazier.
Also filing were pitcher Bryn Smith and utilityman Dave Engle of Montreal, outfielders Dwayne Murphy and Steve Henderson of Oakland, catcher Mike Heath of Detroit, pitcher Dave LaPoint of the Chicago White Sox, pitcher Charlie Leibrandt of Kansas City, and outfielder Rick Manning of Milwaukee.
