The cities of Tempe and Phoenix, along with Arizona State University, have offered St. Louis Cardinals owner Bill Bidwill a $10-million package in an attempt to lure the National Football League team to Arizona.
Bidwill also has investigated Jacksonville, Fla., which reportedly is offering guaranteed sellouts in an 80,000-seat stadium for 10 years, as well as Memphis, Tenn., and Baltimore.
The Arizona figure was based on a projected average attendance of 50,000 at eight regular-season games and one exhibition game each year in ASU’s 70,021-seat Sun Devil Stadium.
