Fred Sorsabal, former city manager of Costa Mesa, has been chosen as El Segundo’s interim city manager.
Sorsabal, 49, was selected by the City Council over seven other candidates for the temporary job. He will be paid $6,000 a month and serve for up to a year in the post while the council searches for a permanent city manager.
Sorsabal, who served as Costa Mesa’s city manager for 11 years before retiring in 1985, replaces Art Jones. Jones recently announced that he was retiring Christmas Day after serving for nearly 20 years as El Segundo’s city manager.
