Bartender Goofs on Lottery Button, Wins $10 Million

COLUMBIA, Ill. — A bartender won $10 million in the Illinois lottery after hitting the wrong button on a computer and dispensing $50 worth of unwanted tickets.
Sue Zera, 47, was working at Ollie’s Tavern in this southern Illinois community Wednesday when a customer ordered $50 worth of tickets for the Saturday Lotto drawing.
She mistakenly pressed the button for Wednesday’s Lotto 7 drawing and found herself with 50 lottery tickets the customer didn’t want. She was forced to buy all 50 chances herself.
Although she later managed to sell 20 of the $1 tickets to friends, Zera said she felt that she had lost $30--until Thursday, when Zera found she had won the $10-million jackpot.
“I broke down and cried,” she said.
