‘Teachers Must Never Give Up’

As a retired public school teacher and administrator in a Milwaukee high school, I can empathize with a large part of McKenna’s article. However, his comparison that schools should not drop students from school any more than hospitals and doctors can terminate care for patients, misses the point:
What would hospitals and doctors do if some of the patients made it impossible for them to treat other patients?
