SAN DIEGO — San Diego’s prima ballerina, Denise Dabrowski, will take to the road this month to star in “Sleeping Beauty” for the Theatre Ballet of Sacramento.
California Ballet director Maxine Mahon (who set “Midsummer Night’s Dream” for the Sacramento-based ballet troupe) is preparing Dabrowski for the role here at home.
“She needs more opportunities to dance,” said Mahon, “and I need to expose her, so I arranged to get her the role in Sacramento.”
Mahon will be working with Dabrowski and partner Mark Lanham, a former guest artist with the Cal Ballet.
Dabrowski and Lanham will dance the full-length classic at the Sacramento Civic Theatre Feb. 19 and 20.
