Heather Schoeny, a 5-foot 10-inch outside hitter for Capistrano Valley High School, has made an oral commitment to attend the University of the Pacific and will sign a national letter of intent on Feb. 10.
Schoeny, who visited Colorado State, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Pacific, also is a standout player for the Cougars’ basketball team but said she will not play basketball in college.
Schoeny, who has a 3.89 grade-point average at Capistrano Valley, will major in business and pre-law at Pacific. Schoeny was a first-team All-Southern Section volleyball selection, although the Cougars finished fourth in the South Coast League.
