Local News in Brief : Council Rejects Hiring Freeze
- Share via
The Hawthorne City Council voted down a municipal hiring freeze Monday.
The council rejected two measures proposing a freeze in all city departments to reduce spending and help pay for a second paramedic unit. The measures were identical except that one called for a simple majority to override the freeze, while the other required the votes of four of the five City Council members.
Only Councilman Steve Anderson and Councilwoman Ginny Lambert voted in favor of the hiring freeze.
