Nev. Gov. Bryan Runs for Senate

LAS VEGAS — Gov. Richard H. Bryan, who six years ago declared his election as governor “the ultimate for me,” formally announced his candidacy today for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Chic Hecht.
Democrat Bryan, who has been openly raising campaign funds for months as an unannounced candidate, wasted no time in going after Hecht as he kicked off his campaign to unseat the first-term incumbent. “Today, Nevada’s future is being compromised by Chic Hecht’s lack of forceful and effective representation of us all in Washington, D.C.,” Bryan told a group of about 400 supporters at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
