Oatsvall Loses Despite No-Hitter

ESCONDIDO — El Camino’s Scott Oatsvall pitched a no-hitter Wednesday, but the visiting Wildcats still lost their Avocado League high school baseball opener, 1-0, to San Pasqual.
San Pasqual scored its run in the bottom of the second inning when Andy Loveland reached base on an error, moved to third on a groundout and a wild pitch, then scored on another wild pitch.
Mike Escarcega and Kevin Herde combined on a one-hitter for San Pasqual. El Camino’s only hit was a two-out single by Freddie Spears in the third inning.
San Pasqual is 5-6, 1-0. El Camino is 1-9, 0-1.
