Jose Manuel Hernandez, 31, of Spain was killed when his car crashed into a tree during the Playa de Aro rally, police in Gerona, Spain, said. He was 31.
In Melbourne, Australia, a 9-year-old girl spectator was killed when hit by a flying wheel which detached from a car competing in the Australian Touring Car Championship at Winton Raceway.
The girl, who was not identified, was hit when the front near-side wheel broke from the center hub on a Holden Commodore sedan driven by Tony Hunter.
In an unrelated incident at Maldon Raceway in Australia, sports car driver Werner Rodkin, 40, was killed when he car skidded, hit an embankment and overturned.
