A 23-year-old hospitalized jail inmate suffering from pneumonia died Saturday of complications from the illness.
Keith Damon Banks, an Ocean Beach resident, was jailed Feb. 22 on drug-related charges, according to a sheriff’s spokesman.
He developed a cough, fever and congestion and was admitted to Physicians & Surgeons Hospital in San Diego on April 5, where he was immediately placed in the intensive-care ward, a hospital spokesman said.
Banks’ condition continued to deteriorate, and he died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
