Valley Men, Women Win Swim Titles

David Hale, Mike McAllister and John Marshall won individual events for the Valley College men’s team, and Nancy Sas won the 100-yard butterfly and led off the victorious 400 freestyle relay for the women as Valley romped to a double victory in the Southern California Conference swimming championships at East Los Angeles College on Saturday.
The men’s team, which finished with 764 points, easily outdistanced second-place Rio Hondo (459). San Bernardino (422) was third, followed by East L. A. (386) and Chaffey (316). The women, who finished with 727 points, defeated runner-up East L. A. (472), Chaffey (406), San Bernardino (365) and Rio Hondo (343).
Individually, Hale won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.4 seconds, McAllister won the 1,650 freestyle in 19 minutes, 10.5 seconds and Marshall took the 200 butterfly in 2:08.2.
Sas turned in a winning time of 1:03.4 in the 100 butterfly, then teamed with Shawna Sacks, Tracy Corordobes and Heather Wolfenden for a 1:48.4 victory in the relay.
