Martin’s Letter to UCLA Is Upheld

The National Letter of Intent Steering Committee upheld the decision by the Pacific 10 Conference to validate the letter of intent signed by Darrick Martin with UCLA.
Martin, a basketball player at St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, signed with UCLA in November, but recently requested the letter be voided, just after the firing of UCLA Coach Walt Hazzard.
Fred Jacoby, commissioner of the Southwest Conference and chairman of the steering committee, informed the Pac-10 office that his committee voted unanimously to uphold the conference’s decision to validate the letter.
