Sheriff’s homicide detectives are searching for a 33-year-old Escondido woman who has been missing since Wednesday, the department reported Friday.
Leona Lara of the 8700 block of Nelson Way dropped off her daughter at school about 7:30 Wednesday morning and was supposed to pick her up later that day, a sheriff’s spokesman said. When Lara failed to meet her daughter and did not return home Thursday, sheriff’s deputies were notified.
On Friday, detectives organized a search using reserve officers and bloodhounds to comb the area around Lara’s house.
Lara is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds, with red, shoulder-length hair. She has green eyes, wears glasses and the tip of her ring finger is missing.
