Santa Fe Springs : Kernes Selected as Mayor

The Santa Fe Springs City Council has elected Councilman Ronald Kernes as mayor. Kernes, who has served on the council since 1978, previously served as mayor in 1980-81.
The council also voted to increase the monthly pay of council members from $403.40 to $444.75 after the 1990 election. The pay increase was approved without discussion. It is routine to approve such an increase after each election, City Clerk Hazel Thomas said.
