Late Oregon Returns Give Dukakis 56%

PORTLAND, Ore. — Nearly complete returns from the Oregon primaries showed Wednesday that Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis carried 56% of the Democratic vote to 38% for the Rev. Jesse Jackson, while Vice President George Bush won 73% of the Republican ballots.
With 99% of the votes reported from the Tuesday election, these were the unofficial Democratic returns: Dukakis 207,512, Jackson 142,382, Missouri Rep. Richard A. Gephardt 6,675 (2%), Tennessee Sen. Albert Gore Jr. 6,202 (2%), Illinois Sen. Paul Simon 4,885 (1%) and Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr. 2,680 (1%).
On the Republican side, Bush had 189,195 votes, Kansas Sen. Bob Dole had 47,486 (18%) and religious broadcaster Pat Robertson had 21,876 (8%).
