Ex-North Aide Denies Drug Links

WASHINGTON — Felix Rodriguez, the on-the-ground manager for Oliver L. North’s secret operation to resupply the Nicaraguan Contras, appeared on Capitol Hill today to deny allegations that he solicited $10 million in drug money for the rebels.
Rodriguez, a highly decorated former CIA officer with ties to Vice President George Bush, circulated a notarized statement at a news conference to “dispel notions that I am in any way any time in my life, involved with drug money-laundering operations, either to obtain funds for assisting the Nicaraguan freedom fighters or personal gain.” Convicted money launderer Ramon Milian Rodriguez has alleged that Rodriguez solicited money in early 1985 from Colombia’s so-called Medellin cocaine cartel.
