Local News in Brief : Fountain Valley : Pregnant Woman Dies After Two-Car Crash

A pregnant woman died early Tuesday of injuries sustained in a two-car collision the night before, Fountain Valley police said.
Lt. Mike Hanrahan said Jaime Squires, 17, of Huntington Beach died at 1:55 a.m. at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital. Hanrahan said the young woman was seven months pregnant. The fetus also was killed.
Police said the crash occurred at 10:20 p.m. Monday when the car in which Squires was riding, a Volkswagen driven by Dana Potts, 18, of Fountain Valley was hit by another car at Magnolia Street and Ellis Avenue.
Hanrahan said the cause of the accident was not clear, but he added that the driver of the second car, Ruben Martinez, 20, of Huntington Beach, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Martinez was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
