A body was discovered 50 feet from the westbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway west of the Hampshire Road off-ramp in Thousand Oaks, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department investigators said Tuesday.
A resident of a nearby trailer park found the body of a Latin male about 8 a.m. Monday, said Detective Harlan Rudd of the sheriff’s major crime unit. The man, whose identity was not known, died of multiple gunshots to the chest, Rudd said.
Authorities suspect that the man was killed at another location, driven to Thousand Oaks and dumped into the weeds and shrubs near a 50-foot embankment alongside the freeway, said Sgt. Gary Backman of the major crimes unit.
The dead man was described as about 25 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. Backman said he was wearing a short-sleeve Polo shirt, designer jeans and white tennis shoes.
Authorities have no suspects in the case.
Investigators said the man was killed after 8 p.m. Sunday.
