A Reader Tees Off Against This Sport

In the June 25 viewpoint, a reader commented on the U.S. Open golf championship, going so far as to make the fatuous remarks that Curtis Strange’s victory came after “90 grueling holes” and “his tears after the finish were eloquent testimony to the true meaning of golf.” Hogwash.
Golf is a namby-pamby waste of time indulged in by bawling wimps who have nerve enough to call themselves “athletes” and the gall to call golf a “sport.”
