70 Low-Income Housing Units to Be Opened

Seventy new residential units for low- and moderate-income families will become available in the Willowbrook area about July 27 with the opening of the $6.3-million Taylor’s Manor I and II.
The project is located on three parcels totaling 3.7 acres in the 2300 and 2400 blocks of East 126th Street.
Manor I includes 50 one- andtwo-story townhouses for families. It offers units with two, three or four bedrooms and two or three bathrooms. Manor II consists of 20 one-bedroom units for singles and couples.
The project was developed for the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s Century Freeway housing replenishment program by the nonprofit Watts Labor Community Action Committee and Watt/Parker Inc., Santa Monica.
Rents are calculated at 30% of a family’s income, according to Merle Demroff, spokesman for the freeway agency. Priority is given to those displaced by construction of the Century Freeway. The agency’s office is at 111 N. La Brea Ave., Inglewood.
Jones & Martinez Architects Inc., of Irvine, was designer and Watt/Parker, contractor. Barrio Planners Inc., Los Angeles, is landscape architect.
