No Problems for Tourists

On behalf of the Costa Rica Tourist Board I would like to express my most sincere appreciation for publication of the story “Rafting in the Tropical Wilds of Costa Rica” (May 8) by Jerry Ruhlow. We are very proud of our country and its long tradition of peace and democracy and we offer much for the visitor in the way of natural beauty, fishing and adventure travel.
We are adversely affected by the fact that Central America has been an area of political strife, and the general public is just not aware that there have been none of the problems for visitors to Costa Rica that might be found in neighboring countries. Stories such as this help allay those fears.
