4.5 Quake Rattles Owens Valley Area

LONE PINE, Calif. — A moderate earthquake that shook the Owens Valley on Tuesday prompted officials to inspect a section of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, but no damage or injuries were reported.
The earthquake, magnitude 4.5, struck at 11:18 a.m. and was centered 10 miles south of Lone Pine, according to readings from the Caltech seismology lab in Pasadena.
Lone Pine is in the eastern Sierra Nevada, about 170 miles north of Los Angeles.
