Charles Parker, basketball coach at Wayne State University in Detroit the past six seasons, has been named an assistant coach to George Raveling at USC.
Parker, 39, replaces Ron Righter, who recently left USC after two seasons to become head coach at Clarion, Pa., University.
Parker leaves Wayne State as the winningest coach in school history. The Tarters were 120-55 under Parker and won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference three times in his six seasons there.
