California State University Chancellor W. Ann Reynolds predicted that the state budget signed by Gov. George Deukmejian last week will create “a significant fiscal crisis” for the 19 Cal State campuses. The budget calls for $1.476 billion in general funds for Cal State, an amount that Reynolds said will require spending cutbacks of about $66 million. At a meeting of the Cal State Board of Trustees in Long Beach, she said the schools may have to cut enrollment in the fall of 1989 if money is not restored by the Legislature next month.
